MIT ID is a required field in a form. But ....

Hi,
Is there a way to check an entry (against the Roles database?) to ensure that the entry on a form is a valid MIT ID number? We have a form from which we have received half-a-dozen bogus entries. Not a huge problem, but I'd like to avoid it. I have searched the previous Q&As but don't find this.
