With the launch of the MIT Sites service, Drupal Cloud is being phased out. Effective January 2, 2024, no new Drupal Cloud sites will be created. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to visit sites.mit.edu to create a new MIT website.

Yes, there is RSS functionality built into your site. Checking the "Promoted to front page" publishing option on a content node will include it in your site's default front page RSS feed.
A better way is to use Views to create your own feed. That would be a good option in your case, since you're looking to create a News-only feed.
The News listing that comes with your Drupal Cloud site is a View with two Displays, a block and a page. Edit this view and create a new display, choosing Feed as the type, and then configure the settings according to your needs.
